Sena Agbeko glad judges gave him unanimous decision win over Steen

Agbeko in action against Isaiah Steen

Ghanaian Super Middleweight contender, Sena Agbeko is happy judges weren’t swayed by Isaiah Steen’s elusive fighting style after they gave him a unanimous decision win over the American fighter.

Agbeko battled to a 10-round win over the then-unbeaten Steen in New Jersey in a headline fight this past weekend, with the judges scoring the bout 97-93, 96-94 and 98-92, all in favour of Agbeko.

In the post-fight interview, 30-year-old Agbeko, whose record stands at 27 wins and two losses, said he was initially worried he was going to get robbed of a win after the game traveled the distance

He elaborated on this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports.

“He [Steen] was a lot more cautious because of his movement and the fact that he was willing to counter but just like the stats showed, I threw a lot more power punches. I was the aggressor, I wanted to take the fight to him.

He didn’t want to fight, he didn’t want mix it because he was scared of getting knocked out. And I thank God that the judges saw it for what it was because everybody thought that if the fight went the distance, he would definitely get the decision,” Agbeko said.

Agbeko has won four straight fights and spoke of his plans to fight in December or early next year, while calling out former IBF super middleweight champion, Caleb Plant.
