NSA Director General Prof Twumasi detained by police over unpaid hampers

Director General of the National Sports Authority Professor Peter Twumasi has been detained at the Legon Police station for failing to uphold a financial agreement reached with Mom and Sons, a private company.

Twumasi reported himself to the police on Friday October 28th following the detention of his Secretary Afia Serebour a day before.

According to Citi Sports sources Professor Twumasi contracted Mom and Sons to make New Year Gift Hampers for the authority at a cost of 25,000 GHC.

However the transaction was not done officially through the NSA and did not go through the required procurement procedures of the Authority.

The company at the centre of the matter tried on several occasions to pick up their monies for the hampers delivered but were unable to hence the decision to report the matter initially to EOCO and then to the police.

Professor Peter Twumasi has had his statement taken.

The National Sports Authority is yet to speak on the matter.
