Augustine Okrah shelves “selfish” tag; assists goal in big Simba win

Ghanaian winger, Augustine Okrah, starred in Simba Sports Club’s October 30 win in the Tanzanian Football League by scoring a goal and assisting another.

The former Bechem United player delivered a top performance as Simba beat Mtibwa Sugar 5-0 to go second in the league while pushing Mtibwa to fourth place.

Okrah assisted Said Mzamiru’s opening goal in the 38th minute and went ahead to score the game’s third goal in the 63rd minute off an assist from Mohammed Hussein.

This performance was a response to criticisms from Simba’s fans following Simba’s 1-1 draw with arch rival Young Africans Sporting Club (Yanga)in the Karaikoo Derby. The fans went after Okrah for what they believed was selfish play on his part because he failed to set up his team mates  who were in better scoring positions.

After the match against Mtimbwa Sugar, Okrah expressed his resolve to do better for the team via his Twitter handle.

“Thanks for the criticisms and encouragements over the few days. I’m elated we’ve returned to winning ways. I learn to live, in order to leave a mark on the park. We shall prosper.”

Simba plays Ihefu next in the league on November 12.
