Genk and Ghana forward, Joseph Paintsil has corroborated reports that he has been named in Ghana’s provisional squad list for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Many Ghanaians have called for the 24-year old to be included in Otto Addo’s squad for Qatar after he missed out on a spot in the team for Ghana’s friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua in September, despite his performances for his club.
Paintsil has had an impressive start to the season in the Belgian league, scoring six times and providing four assists.
The Ghana International in an interview with voetbalkrant.com revealed that he had been included in the provisional squad list and is hoping to make the final squad for the World Cup.
“I am in the pre-selection. I hope to be among the 26 in the final selection. It will be announced within a week or so. My goal and my assist may also be important with a view to the World Cup.”
Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo is expected to name his final squad list for the Qatar World Cup on November 14.
