Chelsea and England suffered a huge blow after Ben Chilwell had to be helped out of the pitch after picking up a hamstring injury. Chilwell was in action for Chelsea in their match against Dinamo Zagreb on November 2nd at Stamford Bridge.

He went down at the end of the game, clutching his hamstring and was helped by Chelsea staff. The England star shed tears with the World Cup literally less than three weeks away. The fullback had just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that he sustained last season. He had already worked his way back to full fitness and was almost certain to make it into Gareth Southgate’s squad.

However, Southgate will have to wait with the initial signs not promising. The defender was spotted leaving Stamford Bridge in crutches. Chelsea head coach Graham Potter said: “It’s a blow for us on an otherwise positive evening. It’s a blow to see him pull up like that, it’s not a great sight. So fingers crossed when we get the scan it isn’t bad, it can be not severe, but we have to have fingers crossed at the moment,” as quoted by Sky Sports. (Click highlighted text to watch video)

The injury becomes the latest in Chelsea’s squad, following Reece James and Wesley Fofana on the injury table.
