More concerns for Daniel Kyereh as midfielder misses game to illness

Black Stars midfielder, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, has been hit with another setback that has forced him to miss more game time at his club, Freiburg.

Muscular problems had prevented him from featuring in three previous games but illness prevented the former St. Pauli player from featuring in SC Freiburg’s Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig on Wednesday. According to Transfermarkt, the 26-year-old missed the game due to fever.

Since joining the club in the off-season, Kyereh has three goals and an assist in 16 games in all competitions.

The result moved Leipzig to within two points of Freiburg who are third in the league with 27 points while Leipzig ranks fifth with 25 points.

Kyereh’s health is sure to be of concern to Ghana’s Black Stars handlers ahead of the announcement of the 26-man squad to compete at this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Kyereh has been named in Ghana’s 55 man provisional list after delivering a string of consistent performances dating back to the 2021 AFCON.

Ghana has been drawn in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Qatar.
