Former Ghana Midfielder, Laryea Kingston, has tipped the Black Stars to sail through the group stage of Qatar 2022.

Ghana has been drawn against Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.

The Stars head into the tournament in high spirits after a 2-0 win over Switzerland in the final pre-world cup match.

This victory was chalked without key players, Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus who were benched by Otto Addo and Kingston told Citi Sports that the team was capable of advancing past the group stage of the World Cup.

“We’ll take it a game at a time. We are in a group that is very tough. The good thing for us is that we’ve played two teams in that group before, and we know what they are capable of doing.

For me I think it’s a plus for us. We’ll do our background check on them and approach a game at a time. But I believe we going to go through our group.

I’m sure in the current players that is going to represent us. They’ll have some videos about former players that are, are rooting and rallying behind them. For me, I think it’s a huge motivation for the team”.

Ghana opens its World Cup account with a tricky test against Portugal on Thursday, November 24. This is a repeat of the 2014 Group match where the Black Stars lost 2-1 and were eliminated.

Ghana will play South Korea on November 27 in their second group match. The team will wrap up the group phase with a revenge mission against Uruguay on December 2.
