Qatar 2022: Ghana has got no chance to progress from group-Richard Ofori’s former coach states

Former Maritzburg United head coach Muhsin Ertugral has run down the chances of Ghana’s Black Stars progressing from Group H at this year’s World Cup.

Ertugral served as head coach of South African league side Maritzburg United in the 2019 season at the time Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori joined the club.

Ofori who plays for fellow South African side Orlando Pirates, missed out on selection to the Black Stars World Cup squad due to a knee injury he aggravated a week prior to the announcement of the 26 man squad.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar commences on Sunday, November 20 and Ghana commences its campaign on Thursday, November 24 against Portugal.

However, Ertugral, who works as Technical Advisor to the Turkish National Men’s Football Team doesn’t see Ghana progressing to the Round of 16 stage at the expense of fellow Group H opponents Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

“Portugal is an interesting team… I probably see them in the quarterfinals, but not over, there’s not enough in this team. For me Ghana have got no chance in this group, no chance… Uruguay maybe. Korea is interesting” he said to media outlet Goal

Ofori

Ofori has hit the gym in the aftermath of the Black Stars squad announcement as he aims for a return to full fitness.
