Basketball: Ben Bentil delivers MVP performance in Red Star Belgrade league win

Ghanaian Forward Ben Bentil has delivered a Most Valuable Player award winning performance in Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade MTS) 93-77 win over Mornar.

Serbian club Red Star’s win over Montenegrin club Mornar in the Adriatic Basketball League (ABA) had Bentil register 26 points, four rebounds and two assists.

The former Dallas Mavericks player started the in the win and played 22 minutes while delivering an efficient performance by converting seven of eight two point shot attempts.

Bentil scored all three free throw attempts and converted three of six shots from three point range though he turned the ball over three times.

The Sekondi native was one of just three Red Star players to score in double figures; teammates Ognjen Dobric and Dalibor Ilic scored 10 and 11 points respectively.

Bentil has been in fine form since joining Red Star prior to the start of the 2022-2023 season from Italian side Olimpia Milano where he won the league and Italian Cup titles.

He has averaged 13.4 points across nine ABA League games while averaging 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 24.4 minutes across 12 in the Euroleague.

Red Star takes on Lithuanian side Zalgiris on Tuesday, December 13 at 18:00 GMT with Red Star on a five game winning streak in the continental tournament.
