Euroleague Basketball: Bentil, Red Star Belgrade lose to Olimpia Milano

Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) MTS’s winning run has come to an after losing 67-71 to Olimpia Milano in the Euroleague.

Red Star’s four point loss halted a five winning streak from extending to six for the Serbs with Ghana’s Ben Bentil missing out on a win against one of his former teams.

The 27 year old registered five points and a steal in 18:26 minutes as a starter marking one of his lowest performances since joining Red Star from Milano in the immediate past offseason.

Teammates Nemanja Nedovic, Filip Petrusev and Luca Vildoza led Red Star with 12, 20 and 16 points respectively in the loss.

Heading into the game the Italian side, Red Star had beaten the likes of Zalgiris Kaunas, Alba Berlin, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Virtus Bologna.

Bentil starred for Milano in the 2021-2022 season helping the team with the Serie A title and the Italian Cup.

The former Dallas Mavericks has played for Bilbao Basket, Panathinaikos and Peristeri in his career; Red Star plays Olympiakos next in the Euroleague on December 22.
