Ghana forward Joseph Paintsil has bagged his seventh goal of the season to send KRC Genk into the quarterfinals of the 2022-2023 Belgian Cup.

Paintsil played 120 minutes and his goal in extra time secured a 1-0 win over Anderlecht in the Round of 16 stage.

The 24 year old stayed onside and raced to meet a through ball from Belgian midfielder Bryan Heynen before slamming the ball into the corner from the right side.

Genk held on to clinch the win and eliminate Anderlecht; Paintsil’s goal comes on the back of missing out on a place in the Black Stars squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In 16 games in all competitions, the speedy winger has scored seven goals and registered eight assists as a star performer in Belgium.

After the win, Paintsil dedicated his goal to his father who passed away recently by stating, “This goal also belongs to my father who passed away a few days ago”.

Fellow Ghanaian, Majeed Ashimeru came off the bench to play 36 minutes for Anderlecht.
