Injury update; wire removed from Jojo Wollacott’s surgically repaired finger

Wollacott

Charlton Athletic head coach Dean Holden has provided an update on the injury status of Black Stars goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott weeks after the shot stopper suffered a broken finger during warm ups.

Wollacott was heavily tipped to be named in the Black Stars squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar but was ruled out of the World Cup due to the extent of the injury.

Addressing the media on the injury status of a handful of players including forward Chuks Aneke, Dean Holden expressed confidence Wollacott will start training in a couple of weeks considering the extent of recovery.

“Jojo Wollacott has had the wire removed from his finger and that’s gone well. The surgeon was pleased with that so we now need to make sure the finger heals. As soon as that’s the case we step him forward and move him back into training in the next couple of weeks” he said.

English Football League outfit Charlton, ranks 12th in the 24 team league standings and takes on Premier League giant Manchester United in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup tonight at 20:00 GMT.
