Euroleague Basketball; Bentil misses second game in a row to illness

Ghanaian forward Ben Bentil did not feature for the second Euroleague game in a row for Serbian side Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) due to illness.

The 27 year old was absent in Crvena’s 92-68 win over AS Monaco in Round 19 games in the regular season of the 2022-2023 campaign.

Prior to the landslide win over the French side, Bentil didn’t play in Crvena’s 59-79 loss to Real Madrid due to the same issue.

His last outing on the court was a cameo appearance in Crvena’s 80-57 win over Skoje in the Adriatic Basketball League. He played 5:38 minutes and registered two points and two rebounds.

The specific illness affecting the former Dallas Mavericks player remains unknown but Bentil is expected to recover in time to feature in the upcoming Euroleague game against Lithuanian side Zalgiris on Friday, January 20.

In his debut season with Red Star, Bentil is averaging 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22:06 minutes while starting 15 of 17 games in the continental tournament.
