Basketball: Ben Bentil features in Red Star win on return from illness

Ghanaian forward Ben Bentil returned to action for Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) MTS after battling an illness that forced him to miss three games.

Bentil missed an Adriatic Basketball League game against Skopje and two Euroleague games against Real Madrid and AS Monaco due to the illness.

However, he recovered in time to play a bit part role in Red Star’s 76-56 win over Buducnost in the Adriatic League. Bentil played just 6:46 minutes off the bench.

The former Dallas Mavericks player registered two points after converting one of a pair of two point shot attempts; he missed both three point shots attempts in the game.

Bentil’s return puts him in line to feature in Red Star’s Euroleague game against Lithuanian side Zalgiris Kaunas on Friday, January 20.

The Sekondi native is in his first year with the Serbian side after transferring from Italian team Olimpia Milano where he won the Serie A league title and Italian Cup.

He won the Greek Cup and league title during his two stay with Panathinaikos.
