Basketball: Denzel Mensah signs for Club Atletico Olimpia Montevideo

American born Ghanaian Shooting Guard-Point Guard Denzel Mensah has signed a deal with Uruguayan side Club Atletico Olimpia Montevideo.

Mensah joined the team as a replacement for 6 foot 5 inch Shooting Guard LaGerald Vick who moved to join New Zealand side Manawatu Jets.

He joined the club after playing out the 2022-2023 season with Armenian side BKMA Yerevan where he emerged as an All Star Guard.

With BKMA, the former Penn State University -Wilkes Barre product averaged over 18 points per game and will be counted on to aid Olimpia move from bottom of the 13 team league standings. The team has five wins and 12 losses this season.

Since joining Olimpia Montevideo, the 29 year old has gone on to make debut that had him register two

rebounds and an assist in 10 minutes off the bench.

 

 

He attempted just a single three point shot but missed it during his time on the court; Mensah has played in the NBA Gatorade League (G-League) with Greensboro Swarm and Spain’s lower division with Valencia.
