Former Kotoko midfielder Kwame Bonsu joins UAE side Al Bataeh

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder Kwame Bonsu has joined United Arab Emirates Pro League side Al Bataeh CSCS.

Reports of an impending move surfaced recently concerning the defensive midfielder-central midfielder who joins the Emirati club from Egyptian side Cleopatra FC.

The length of his new contract isn’t yet known but the move is reportedly worth 300,000 Euros for the midfielder who was without a club since September, 2022.

Bonsu is one of three confirmed arrivals to Al Bataeh in the transfer window with Omar Ahmed and Abdulla Al-Naqbi arriving with Bonsu.

Bonsu spent a full season with Tunisian giant Esperance de Tunis after moving from Kotoko and won the Tunisian league title and Tunisian Super Cup title. He is the fifth Ghanaian to win the Tunisian League title.

With Esperance, Bonsu played games in all competitions including the CAF Champions League and registered an assist.

Al Bataeh ranks 11th in the 14 team league standings with four wins, a draw and eight losses and is scheduled to play eighth ranked Al-Ittihad Kalba on Saturday, January 28.

Bonsu started out with Kpando Heart of Lions and has played in Sweden for Rosengard, Mjallby AIF and Gefle.
