Winning an award is a big deal- GBA President speaks on SWAG Awards recognition

GBA President Abraham Neequaye

Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) President Abraham Neequaye has stated his outfit getting recognized with an award by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is a big deal.

He said this at the 47th edition of the SWAG Awards held at the Accra International Conference Center that honoured outstanding athletes and sports personalities.

GBA was recognized as one of the Top 5 Sports Federations in the year under review after putting together a string of events highlighted by organizing the De-Luxy Boxing League.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with CITI Sports, Abraham Neequaye highlighted what the award means to the Authority.

“This happens to be the first time the GBA has won such an award. To us it’s a big deal. It tells us the efforts we put in 2022 have brought in results. The Sports Writers Association recognizes this effort and they gave us such an award, we say God bless them and God bless Ghana boxing” he said.

Boxer Joseph Commey won the Discovery of the Year Award at the event and Abraham Mensah was named Boxer of the Year. Both fighters won medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
