Nathan Opoku completes move to Leicester City from Syracuse University

Ghanaian striker Nathan Opoku has completed a move to Premier League side Leicester City from Syracuse University in the United States of America.

The 21 year old forward inks a three year deal with the English outfit but will be immediately loaned to Belgian team Oud-Heverlee Leuven in the Belgian League.

Opoku finished the 2022 season with 11 goals eight assists for Syracuse University and played a key role in his teams scoring and assisting both regulation goals in his team’s Cuse’s 2022 NCAA National Championship triumph against Indiana.

In heartfelt farewell message ahead of his move to Europe, Opoku said, “I am excited to announce that I am making the transition to professional soccer.
“Syracuse University welcomed me into their family, and my time here was nothing short of beautiful. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to grow as a player.”

Nathan was 2022 NCAA College Cup most outstanding offensive player and majored in Communications and Rhetorical Studies at Syracuse University.

Nathan Opoku becomes the second Ghanaian to join OH Leuven this season, following the footsteps of U-17 star, Emmanuel Toku.
