They made a difference- Southampton Head Coach speaks on debutants Kamaldeen, Onuachu

Southampton Football Club head coach Nathan Jones had a positive response on how debutants Kamaldeen Sulemana and Paul Onuachu fared in their first outing in the English Premier League.

Jones said this in the postgame interview after Southampton lost 0-3 to Brentford in Week 22 round of games in the EPL. Southampton conceded two goals in three minutes just before the end of the first half.

Sulemana joined Southampton for a 25 million Euros record fee from French side Stade Rennes in the latter part of the January transfer window.

The 6 foot 7 inch Onuachu transferred from Belgian side KRC Genk; both players came on in the second half and Jones delivered a positive verdict on their performance.

“They made a difference. They gave us an impetus and we looked better, put more balls in the box and were a better team. They’ve added to the squad, they added to the performance, they gave us a little bit more focal point, a bit more aggression, bit more front-footedness and we were better in the second half” he said.

The loss is Southampton’s 14th in 21 games for the season and ranks bottom of the standings; Southampton plays Wolves on Saturday, February 11 at 15:00 GMT.
