Joseph Paintsil shades Antwerp after Genk league loss

Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil wasn’t too pleased by Antwerp’s ultra defensive tactics used by the latter in its 1-0 league win over Paintsil’s KRC Genk.

Genk lost for the third time in the 2022-2023 Belgian Jupiler Pro League season but still holds a 12 point lead ahead of second ranked Union Saint-Gilloisie

Paintsil played 82 minutes in the loss and suffered a shoulder injury but was far from impressed with the way Antwerp went about recording its 15th win in 25 games.

“If only they had played well, I could say they deserved to win here but Antwerp only defended and cleared long balls but that’s part of football. Whether they’re good or bad, they are the ones who leave with the three points” Paintsil said according to Belgian media outlet Walfoot.

Paintsil has been in brilliant form this season scoring 10 goals and adding 12 assists in 21 league games after shockingly missing out on a place in Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar.
