Chris Hughton should welcome out of favour players to the national team – Dauda

Former Black Stars Goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda says new head coach, Chris Hughton should consider inviting players who have been shut out of the team, if they fit his style of play.

Players like Alfred Duncan, Joseph Painstil and Jeffery Schlupp, have struggled to break into the senior national team in recent years, despite impressive performances for their respective clubs.

Dauda believes there’s a chance that these players may find their way back into the national team, if they are available for selection.

He made these comments in an exclusive with CitiSports.

“He is the new coach, he knows his philosophy and his style of play and if those players will fit into his team, why not invite them” He said.

“If the players have not officially retired from the national team and they fit into his style of play, it is possible they can make a return.

Chris Hughton’s immediate assignment as new head coach will be to lead Ghana in the upcoming AFCON Qualifiers double header in March against Angola.
