Hatalyspor winger Christian Atsu

Christian Atsu’s agent, Nana Sechere, has confirmed Ghana’s Embassy in Turkey’s involvement in the search for the missing Ghanaian winger.

Atsu’s whereabouts are yet to be confirmed since two earthquakes hit Turkey on Monday, February 6; over 10,000 people are confirmed dead in Turkey from the earthquake.

Sechere moved from his base in London earlier this week to Atsu’s apartment, the Renaissance Residence, and in an interview with Haber Global, he confirmed a staff member from Ghana’s Embassy in Turkey is part of the entourage representing the former Everton player.

“We are here on site. I am here together with his brother, his sister, a friend from Portugal, a friend from Turkey. We’re also here with the Ghana Embassy to Turkey, a member of staff is here with us and we are hopeful that Christian is still alive, he is well” Sechere said to the Turkish media outlet.

Atsu spent eight years competing in the English Premier League for clubs like Newcastle United and AFC Bournemouth before playing for Saudi Arabia side Al Raeb.

He joined Hatayspor this season and scored his debut goal in a 1-0 win over Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super League just hours before the earthquake hit Hatay and other areas in the Southeast parts of Turkey.
