Ghana forward Ben Bentil has won his first piece of silverware with Serbian giant Red Star Belgrade (Crvena Zvezda MTS) after triumphing in the Serbian Cup.

Red Star pulled off a 96-79 win over Mega Basket in the cup competition named after Serbia basketball great Radivoj Korac.

Bentil played 12:50 minutes in the win off the bench and registered six points and a steal in a game that had teammate Ognjen Dobric lead all players in scoring with 24 points.

Sekondi native Bentil had an efficient night as he converted both free throw shot attempts and converted on a pair of two point shots attempts. He missed his sole three point shot attempt in the contest.

The title is Bentil’s first since joining the Serbian giant following his 2021-2022 campaign with Italian side Olimpia Milano where he won the Serie A title and Italian Cup.

Bentil won the Greek Cup and two Greek league titles during his time with Panathinaikos; Red Star plays German side Alba Berlin in the Euroleague on Thursday, February 24.

Bentil is the first Ghana born player to get drafted into the NBA and play in the NBA; he had a brief spell with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.
