He’s like Messi; Emmanuel Clottey eulogizes former Black Stars teammate Christian Atsu

Ex Black Stars striker Emmanuel Clottey is the latest former teammate of Christian Atsu to pay tribute to the demised former Malaga and Everton player.

 

 

 

Atsu’s death was announced on Saturday, February 18 by his manager Nana Sechere with his whereabouts unknown 12 days after two earthquakes struck Turkey.

The news has triggered an outpouring of tributes from footballers and football club administrators.

 

 

 

Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo released a statement on his Twitter page commiserating with the late Atsu’s family.

Ghana Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that government will ensure Atsu gets “a befitting burial”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

For Clottey, who played with Atsu at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa, Atsu’s footballing ability was supreme and akin to Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi.

“He is more like Messi. Very energetic, respectful, a hardworking guy” he said in his description of the man who would go on to be named the Best Player at the 2015 AFCON Tournament.
