Local Organizing Committee of the African Para Games inaugurated

The Local Organizing Committee of the African Paralympic games Accra 2023 was inaugurated on the 24th February 2023 at the African Paralympic Committee’s (AfPC) Secretariat.

The event which is the first of its kind on the continent comes to Ghana after a previous unsuccessful attempt at organizing and hosting one in Morocco in 2019.

The inauguration event was also the official opening of the African Paralympic Committee’s (AfPC) Secretariat.

The secretariat is expected to be Africa’s home of Paralympics and is situated at Ridge in Accra.

Speaking at the event the Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Mustafa Ussif emphasized the importance of the games for Ghana and its connection to government’s promotion of inclusion sports.

“This occasion marks yet another milestone in the history of sports development and mega tournament organization in Ghana” he said

“It is even more refreshing that this tournament the Para Africa games to be held in Ghana synchronizes with the fundamental objective and the core principle of the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo agenda of promoting and developing inclusion sports.” he added.

The Africa Para games 2023 is expected to take place from the 3rd of September to the 13th of September 2023.
