Dogboe doesn’t have to switch weight class to be successful – Joseph Agbeko

Former two-time bantamweight champion, Joseph “King Kong” Agbeko, has dismissed the thought of Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe switching weight classes once again.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the aftermath of Dogboe’s unanimous decision loss to Cuban Robeisy Ramirez in a WBO featherweight division title fight this past weekend.

Observers have suggested a change in weight class for Dogboe but Agbeko has dismissed the idea considering Dogboe struggled to lean out and make weight at super bantamweight while having his struggles bulking up to make weight in the super featherweight division.

“Isaac Dogboe fought at the weight he is very comfortable at. He was at the super bantamweight and he was suffering. Making weight is the toughest part of boxing and he decided to move to featherweight.

He feels a bit better or a bit comfortable at featherweight than super bantamweight.

That’s the weight he feels comfortable at so they should allow him to be at his weight. Moving up to super featherweight will not help him.”
