Bulk of major issues affecting boxing in Ghana falls on GBA- Bouhairie

Public Relations Director of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), Kenneth Bouhairie, has singled out the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) as the main source of problems affecting the sport in the West African country.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports where he talked extensively about boxing development in Ghana.

High profile Ghanaian boxers have missed out on wins in big fights in recent years including losses for Richard Commey and Isaac Dogboe in the light welterweight and featherweight divisions respectively.

“The problems are many. One, we lack trainers and teachers to properly develop the fighters we suffer from bad equipment, our amateur program is in shambles and receives little support from our government and other people but the reality is that fish rots from the head down.

I strongly believe that and the biggest issue with boxing in Ghana is the lack of leadership and the lack of a plan to push the sport forward and that falls squarely on the GBA” the American based Ghanaian said.
