Roy Hodgson ready to back ‘red-hot’ Jordan Ayew at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has eulogized Jordan Ayew after the Black Stars attacker impressed in their win against Southampton at the St. Marys.

The 31-year-old has found his scoring boots under Hodgson, scoring two and providing one assist in the process.

Ayew started and lasted 90 minutes before Jean-Philippe Mateta replaced him as Crystal Palace inflicted a 2-0 win over the Saints.

Speaking after the game, Hodgson asserted Jordan Ayew is repaying the faith the club paid in him with his fine performances in the last few games.

“I think he knows us and we know him”.

“He feels comfortable with what we are asking him to do.”

“He knows if he continues to do what we consider the right things, we will back him up and get behind him.”

“He’s repaying us by playing so well because today, especially in the first half, when things weren’t going that well, him and [Jeffrey] Schlupp played a very important role in midfield well, and the back four was excellent throughout and the goalkeeper [Sam Johnstone] when called upon.”

The 31-year-old has now scored three goals and provided two assists in 31 matches this season in the ongoing English Premier League.
