2023 Beach Soccer League: GFA supports clubs with GHC140K

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has announced a GHC140,000 support fund for beach soccer clubs, ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

The new beach soccer league season kicks off on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

In his address at the launch of the Beach Soccer Premier League on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Kurt Okraku said:

“Even though today, we are here, talking about clubs from Greater Accra, from Central, from Volta, and from the Eastern region, soon, we’ll have clubs from all the other regions also participating in beach soccer.

Tentatively, our [Beach Soccer] Premier League will start from the 27th of May 2023.

To help our clubs for a good takeoff, the Football Association is providing each of the 14 clubs a support fund of GHC10,000.

50% of this money will be paid immediately.”

Three arenas at Laboma in La, Ada, and Keta will be hosting the league matches, with 14 teams from the Greater Accra, Volta, Central, and Eastern Regions competing.

The participating clubs include defending champions, Sunset Sports Keta Beach Soccer Club, Havedzi Mighty Warriors, Nungua Beach Soccer Club, Teshie United Beach Soccer Club and Ada Assurance Beach Soccer Club.

Other competing clubs are Layoca Beach Soccer Club, Sea Sharks Beach Soccer Club, , Dansoman Beach Soccer Club, Cheetah Beach Soccer Club, Ocean Stars, Tegbi Beach Soccer Club, Kedzi Beach Soccer Club, Senya Sharks Beach Soccer Club, Okere Rangers Beach Soccer Club, and Vodza Beach Soccer Club.

The winner of the Beach Soccer Premier League takes home GHC15,000, with the runner-up racking up GHC7,000 in prize money.
