GWPL: BETWAY organizes leadership training to club officials; donates equipment to participating teams

Betway, the official development partners of the Women’s Premier League, have donated sporting items, including warm-up kits, footballs, tactical boards, cones, and training bibs, to all 20 teams participating in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

The donation forms part of the company’s effort towards developing women’s football in the country and was done on the sidelines of the Sports betting company’s leadership and development seminar held at the Movenpick Ambassador’s hotel in Accra.

Top administrators and official from clubs in the Ghana Women’s Premier League participated in the seminar.

Officials from the Ghana Football Association together with out technicians resources persons took turns to speak on a wide ranging of topics aimed at improving the state of women football in Ghana

Some of the speakers included, GFA Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, South Africa Under-17 women’s football coach and Assistant Bayana Coach, Simphiwe Dludlu who is also a pioneer for women empowerment in Sports.

High performance expert and Leader in Sports Science Warren Engelbrecht also engaged participants on maximizing team effort and the need to take advantage of emerging technology being adopted globally.

The Country Manager (Operations) of Betway, Magnus Rex Danquah Jnr. explained that the donated items are to aid the teams for the remainder of the 2022/23 season and beyond.

President Simeon-Okraku who was present at the event praised Betway for their dedication to the development of the Women’s game.

He expressed the football association’s appreciation for Betway’s support and reaffirmed his commitment to capacity building in the women’s game.

“I believe our clubs are making good use of this opportunity and we can already see there is a big change in the way they see and deliver football.
“Going forward, we will continue to support all your activities as far as we can and to ensure that the Women’s Premier League becomes the number one football brand for the Football Association. We thank you and are grateful for all your support,” President Simeon-Okraku added.”

The leadership and development programme was organized by Betway in partnership with the Ghana Football Association in fulfillment of its mandate as Development Partners for the Ghana Women’s Premier League. The programme which was held simultaneously in two locations (Accra and Kumasi) was attended by representatives of all participating teams in the Ghana Women’s Premier League.
