Tamale Basketball Court to be built in June-Ghana Basketball Association

Ghana’s Northern regional capital, Tamale, is to be the first of 10 capital cities to benefit from the construction of a basketball court beginning this year.

This is according to the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) following its partnership with American-based New York Square LLC that was announced recently.

According to the announcement, a regional community basketball court will be constructed in 10 regional capitals with Tamale set to be the first beneficiary.

This development comes at a crucial point in basketball development in Ghana. The sport is seriously hampered by infrastructural challenges mainly playing surfaces.

New York Square will construct boreholes to provide such communities with fresh drinking water.

GBBA President Ato Van-Ess stated, “Together we are focused on developing solutions that benefit Ghana by targeting the UN Sustainable Goals 3,4,5,8 and 10.”
