I’m lucky to be working with Randy Abbey – Hearts of Lions Head Coach

Kpando Hearts of Lions Head Coach, Fatawu Salifu has praised the influence of Chief Executive Officer, Randy Abbey in the team’s promotion back to Ghana’s top flight for the first time in eight years.

Their promotion to the Ghana Premier League was confirmed following the defeats of Vision FC and Koforidua Semper Fi FC in Division One League Week 25.

The Coronation ceremony for Lions will take place at the Kpando Park where they will play A5 Rences FC on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Fatawu Salifu eulogized Randy Abbey’s commitment to the team.

Randy Abbey is one of the people I work with at the national team level, that is the Black Satellites. He happens to be the Chairman of the Committee. And I happen to be one of the assistants.

Randy developed interest in me to come and handle Hearts of Lions, and as a young person I am lucky to be working with someone like him.

Tactically he is not a coach, but I will say that one time, he suggested ideas to me that worked perfectly. He actually guided us a lot in the season.

He showed us that he is well experienced when it comes to Ghana Football, so I think that he played a very big role in making sure we qualify, and the financial support as well.

We never lack anything when it comes to motivation, so we had nothing to complain about so we also gave our best as the technical team and the playing body.

I am actually lucky to be working with someone like Dr, Randy Abbey.

Heart of Lions sealed promotion on Saturday – with six matches to end the 2022/23 season after close contenders Vision FC lost 2-0 to Attram De Visser while Semper FI fell 2-0 to Na God FC.

Heart of Lions have won 19, drawn two, and lost four of their 25 League matches, topping the Zone three table with 59 points.

They currently hold a 19-point advantage over the chasing pack who still have five league games to play.

The former Premier League side are staging a comeback to elite football after being relegated in the 2014/15 season.
