EPL: Salisu and Kamldeen’s Southampton relegated after defeat to Fulham

Ghanaian duo, Mohammed Salisu and Kamaldeen Sulemana’s Southampton have been relegated to the Championship after losing 2-0 to Fulham on Saturday.

Second-half goals from Carlos Vinicius and Aleksandar Mitrovic secured a first league double for Fulham at St Mary’s and also confirmed the inevitable for the Saints, making them the first team to be relegated this season.

This brings an end to the team’s 11-year stay in the English Premier League and they will be playing in England’s 2nd tier for the first time since 2012.

Mohammed Salisu joined the Saints in 2020 and became a very important player for the team, however he has struggled to stay fit this season and has missed about 15 games for his side.

Kamaldeen Sulemana on the other hand joined the club in the January transfer window and has made 16 appearances for the Saints but has failed to make any significant impact on the team since joining.

Time will tell where both players will play next season, with Salisu already attracting interest from several clubs in the English Premier League.

Southampton will finish the season against Brighton and Liverpool.
