‘We’ll work harder next season in Europe’ – RC Lens’ Salis Abdul Samed

Black Stars and RC Lens Midfielder Salis Abdul Samed has been Named in Get French Football News’[GFFN] Ligue 1 Team of the Year.

The former Clermont Foot midfielder has more than managed to fill the Cheick Doucouré-shaped hole left in Franck Haise’s squad and embodies the selfless nature of the team’s all-action approach.

The Ghanaian midfielder has 35 appearances to his name, scoring just a goal and assisting once this season in all competitions.

Salis Abdul Samed, who, like Doucouré, is a Jean-Marc Guillou [JMG] Academy graduate, has struck a midfield partnership with Séko Fofana that has served as the base for the team’s success.

His performances have earned him a place in GFFN’s midfield, where he will partner Branco Van den Boomen of Toulouse and PSG star Lionel Messi.

The Ghana international summed up his progression this season in an interview with GFFN:

“Before, I would win the ball back and pass it along – now, when I win the ball back, I can also bring it up the pitch myself, I’m more confident in that regard. I really feel free in the way I play here.”

We’re like a family, so nothing will change in that sense next season, we’ll keep helping each other.

We help each other when we make mistakes and we move forward together.

That will be the same next season, we’ll keep working the same way.

We’ll be playing in Europe, so we know that the level will be higher, so we’ll be working even harder to try and go far.

The 23-year-old Ghanaian midfielder is set to feature in the UEFA Champions League with RC Lens next season after his side secured a place in the top three.
