“I’d love the opportunity to play for the Black Stars” – Abednego Tetteh

Bibiani Gold Stars Striker, Abednego Tetteh has opened up on his readiness to play for the Black Stars if handed a call-up to the national team ahead of the next edition of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Cote D’Ivoire.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, the former Hearts of Oak and King Faisal striker is confident of replicating his form on the domestic scene to the national team if the opportunity arises, despite missing out on Chris Hughton’s final 24-man squad for the next two Afcon qualifiers against Madagascar and Central African Republic.

“Yeah for sure, if I get the opportunity I would be happy, I got the opportunity in 2017, but I was dropped at the last minute.”

“I think if the time is due, I would be honored.”

“I will be happy if I get that opportunity.”

“I can hear so many Ghanaians yearning for me to be given an opportunity with the national team, I hope it comes to pass, if not we still give thanks to God.”

“I will not be disappointed if it doesn’t happen, any called up to the national team deserves to be there, if the person deserves it more than I do, it is fine.”

“Sometimes you have to learn from failures, and then it will elevate you to success.”

“I think I have gathered more experience from Hearts of Oak and King Faisal in that period to be a better player”

The in-form striker was on target over the weekend against relegated Kotoku Royals at the Dun’s Park grabbing a brace in that game.

It took his tally to 16 on the goalscoring scoring chart.

With just two games to end the season, the 32-year-old striker is confident of adding to the numbers in his quest to clinch the golden boot this season.

“I am hoping I get four more goals out of the two goals to take my tally to 20 this season.”
