Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer’s Hamburger SV suffers heavy loss in Bundesliga playoff

Black Stars forward, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer’s chances of playing in the 2023-2024 Bundesliga season have taken a big hit after his Hamburger SV side suffered a 0-3 loss to Stuttgart.

The matchup was the first of two Bundesliga playoff games, with the return leg scheduled to take place on Monday, June 5 at 18:45 GMT. Stuttgart ended the 2022-2023 season in 17th place in the Bundesliga.

21-year-old Konigsdorffer played 25 minutes off the bench in the loss while winning three of five ground duels and registering seven touches.

The German born forward who recently committed to play international football for Ghana’s Black Stars has 10 goals and an assist in 34 games this season.

His contribution will be key to Hamburger’s chances of gaining promotion to the Bundesliga from Bundesliga 2.

Hamburger made the headlines after their fans celebrated a 1-0 win over SV Sandhausen way too early, believing the team had gained automatic promotion to the elite division.

However, Heidenheim’s 3-2 win over Jahn Regensburg, featuring two late goals, saw them pick up one of two automatic qualification spots to the Bundesliga instead. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
