U-23 AFCON: Afriyie Barnieh, Simba dropped in Ghana’s starting XI to face Morocco

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Sylvester Simba have been dropped by Ibrahim Tanko in Ghana’s starting eleven as the Black Meteors come up against Morocco in their second group game of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In Ibrahim Tanko’s slightly changed side, Sylvester Simba of Dreams FC has been dropped to the bench.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, 22, who captained Ghana in the first game has also been left out with Emmanuel Yeboah coming in as the target man.

The two wingers, Fatawu Issahaku and Ernest Appiah Nuamah maintain their place in the starting eleven as well as centre back, Terry Yegbe who was exceptional against Congo.

Edmund Arko-Mensah maintains his place at left-back despite the return of Samuel Abbey-Ashie Quaye from suspension.

Emmanuel Essiam also drops to the bench with Salim Adams comes in to have a bite of the cherry.

A win will send Ghana to the next phase of the competition.
