GFA confirms 2023 elections will happen before end of October

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that its highly-anticipated Elective Congress is set to take place before the end of October 2023.

This decision comes as a response to concerns surrounding the current Executive Council, headed by President Kurt Okraku, and the potential extension of their mandate beyond October.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 6, 2023, Prosper Harrison Addo, the GFA General Secretary, provided reassurance to the public by confirming that the Election Committee has already initiated discussions with various clubs.

Their primary focus is to establish a clear roadmap that will guide the forthcoming elections.

All actions taken by the GFA align with the regulations stipulated in the organization’s statutes, ensuring a fair and transparent process.

Furthermore, the Elections Committee has emphasized the need for the approval of the nomination fee, the exact amount of which will be determined during the upcoming Ordinary Congress on July 10 at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

Only after this fee has been determined will nominations be accepted for the highly-anticipated elections.

These developments highlight the GFA’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and involving all relevant stakeholders in shaping the future of Ghanaian football.

As anticipation builds, football enthusiasts eagerly await the upcoming Elective Congress, which will serve as a platform for meaningful discussions and the election of representatives who can drive positive change within the sport.
