In a momentous occasion, the Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) has achieved a historic milestone by electing Juliana Storey as its first female president for the next two years.
The appointment marks a significant step towards fostering inclusivity and gender diversity within the federation and signifies the growing role of women in sports leadership.
Juliana Storey, the lead consultant at the esteemed 360 Education Consultancy, expressed her gratitude and excitement as she takes on the role of RLFG president.
“As the newly-appointed president of the RLFG, I am honoured to collaborate with my esteemed fellow Board members to spearhead the growth and development of the rugby league in Ghana,” said Juliana Storey.
Alongside her, the newly-elected leadership team consists of Daniel Oko Djanie as Vice President, Edinam Afi Yengbe as General Secretary, and Richard Tony Kweku Borsah as the Treasurer.
The team is completed by Augustine Amissare, the Senior Assistant Registrar at the University of Ghana Sports Directorate, and Robert Oram, the Managing Director of PIL Ghana Ltd.
With a vision of spearheading the growth and development of the rugby league in Ghana, Juliana Storey looks forward to embracing the sport’s full potential within the nation.
“We are set for an exciting future, embracing the opportunity to harness the full potential of the sport within the nation.”
She added: “The recent success of the men’s 13s Championship emphasizes the immense potential of the game in Ghana. It showcased tremendous sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie, exemplifying the core values of the rugby league.”
The RLFG board has outlined its commitment to encouraging active participation, elevating the popularity of the sport, and achieving unprecedented levels of success in Ghana.
Juliana Storey’s election signifies a new era for Rugby in the country, as the federation strives to reach greater heights.
The newly-elected Board will be supported by a Board of trustees, including Kareem Captan as its Chair, along with Remond Safi, Ibrahim El Hajji, Nana Farouk Prempeh, and Andy Gilvary, who played pivotal roles in developing the sport in the nation.
With a mandate from 2023 to 2025, the RLFG is poised for a promising future under the visionary leadership of Juliana Storey and her dedicated team.
