Our football model is a problem – Skyy FC Owner states

Aduana Stars (green) v Accra Hearts of Oak

Skyy FC owner and bankroller, Wilson Arthur says the model being used to run football in Ghana is a problem that needs to be changed.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports while proposing that football stakeholders take up a hybrid system which involves the government’s support to end the current cycle.

“The football model we are running is a problem. It is affecting the viability of our game. People are looking at short term gains, they are selling players… that is what is killing our game so we need to think through the model well.

Football is a good business but the model we are running is a problem. I propose that we try and do a hybrid, we need to get the government to come in.”

Wilson Arthur, who doubles as MTN FA Cup Committee Chairman, went on to link this troubling development to the low patronage of football games at various venues on the Ghanaian scene.
