Ogum’s second stint at Kotoko will be a success – Amos Frimpong

Former Asante Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong has tipped Prosper Narteh Ogum’s second stint at the club to be a success.

Ogum guided the Porcupines to a 24th Premier League title in the 2021/22 campaign but tendered in his resignation before the commencement of the subsequent season.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Amos Frimpong was assertive that the Black Galaxies Assistant Coach will perform better than he did in his previous stint as he comes in with enormous experience.

“The second coming of Prosper Narteh Ogum will be a good thing for Kumasi Asante Kotoko because in his first coming, he did not have a lot of experience but he still managed to win the Premier League title.”

“Coming back again, I am pretty sure he has gathered a lot of experience. This time around he is going to work harder than the first time and aslo win a lot of trophies for the club.”

“A lot will be expected from him this time around, most of the players he worked with in his first stint are not there, so he’s going to work with different players this time around.”

“This will be a very good challenge for him, and I think the experience he has also gathered at the national side [Black Galaxies], will help him.”

“With all this, I think he is going to guide Asante Kotoko to more trophies.”

Ogum’s employment brings him back to the club after a one-year absence.

He left the club after the 2021-22 season, despite guiding the club to its first Ghana Premier League title in eight years.

Seydou Zerbo, a Burkinabe trainer, was appointed as his replacement and took charge of the club in three important competitions, including the CAF Champions League and the MTN FA Cup.

Zerbo was, however, fired in the middle of last season after a loss to Medeama SC at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium.

Abdul Gazale, the club’s youth coach was tasked to lead the team on a temporary basis and led them to a fourth-place finish in the 20222/23 campaign.

The former WAFA boss is anticipated to supervise the club’s recruitment and pre-season training as they aim for an improved performance in the upcoming season which commences on September 15.
