#Donkomi: Mohammed Salisu completes move to Monaco from Southampton

AS Monaco have announced the arrival of central defender, Mohammed Salisu from Southampton Football Club.

The 24-year-old Ghana international has signed a five-year deal and is now tied to the club until June 2028.

Salisu broke into the European scene in Spain at Real Valladolid, where he made his professional debut in the Copa del Rey.

At just 19 years of age, Mohammed Salisu became one of the main players in the team a season later, playing 34 games and contributing one goal and one assist.

The 1.91m centre-back joined Southampton from Valladolid and went on to play 80 games for the Saints, including 68 matches in the Premier League, after signing for the club in 2020.

His brilliant performances earned him a slot in the Black Stars, receiving his first call-up in September 2022.

He was also part of Otto Addo’s side for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

During the tournament in Qatar, Mohammed Salisu scored in Ghana’s 3-2 win over South Korea, his second goal in six appearances for the Black Stars.

His first came against Switzerland in an international friendly.
