GFA Presidential elections set for September 27

The race to become the President of the Ghana Football Association is on with the elections slated for September 27, 2023.

Earlier today, Thursday, August 3, the GFA’s Elections Committee released the Guidelines and Roadmap for the 2023 GFA Elections.

The elections shall be conducted in full compliance with the provisions of the GFA Statutes 2019 and the GFA Regulations on Elections 2019.

Among the other key events announced in the roadmap were the opening and closing of nominations for the Presidential, Executive Council and Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairperson elections on August 7 and August 11 respectively.

Vetting of aspirants who filed nominations for the above-mentioned positions will take place from August 21 to August 25, 2023 with the publication of the Election Committee’s decision on which aspirants would contest the elections on August 28, 2023.

Aggrieved aspirants then have until August 31 to appeal the Committee’s decisions before a final decision is taken on any appeals on September 7.

The final list of candidates for the various positions will be published a day later on September 8.

Two individuals – Kojo Yankah and George Afriyie have indicated their intention to contest the presidency, with the aim of ousting Kurt Okraku who is expected to announce his interest to stay on as head of the GFA.
