Black Stars call up is a dream I have been waiting for- Jonathan Sowah

Medeama Sporting Club striker Jonathan Sowah has described his maiden call up to the Black Stars as a dream he has waited for to come true.

He said this in a post-game interview after Medeama beat MTN FA CUP champions Dreams FC 2-1 to lift the Champion of Champions Cup.

Sowah scored both goals for the Mauve and Yellow as the Tarkwa side lifted its second trophy; Medeama won the BetPawa Ghana Premier League last season.

After scoring 12 goals and adding an assist in 20 league games last season, 24 year old Sowah has a goal in two appearances in this season’s CAF Champions League.

Sowah was one of 25 players named to the Black Stars squad that plays against Central African Republic (CAR) on Thursday, September 7 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The matchup is the final 2023 AFCON qualifier and Ghana needs a win or a draw to guarantee its place in Cote D’Ivoire.

“When I had the call, I was so so happy. After having that call I started crying because this is a dream that I have been waiting and this is a dream that my mom (may her soul rest in peace) has been crying. She has been crying that she wants to see her son at the top…she is no more and this is what has happen so I am so happy” he said to Max TV.

Medeama is preparing to take on accomplished CAF Champions League campaigners Horoya FC of Guinea.
