Black Stars newboy Jonathan Sowah secures Champion of Champions title for Medeama SC

Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC have picked their first trophy of the season after beating Dreams FC by two goals to one to win the Super Cup at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Dubbed the champions of champions, Dreams FC, the MTN FA Cup winners missed out on their first silverware of the season after kicking out Milo FC in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round last weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Black Stars new boy Jonathan Sowah scored twice in the first half to give Yellow & Muaves the advantage in the first half and that was enough for Augustine Evans Adotey’s side to win the game.

Dreams FC came in more potent in the second half but could only get a consolation goal in the 80th minute of the game through Agyenim Boateng

Abdul Karim Zito’s side took control of the game in the second half but they were not clinical enough to take the game to penalties.

Medeama have now won two Super Cup trophies with the first coming in 2015.

Jonathan Sowah, who received his maiden call-up to the senior national team, the Black Stars will join up with the squad for the crucial AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic slated for September 7 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
