“Nora Häuptle’s tenure as Black Queens coach has been good- Gifty Oware-Mensah

Chief Executive Officer for Malta Guinness Ghana Women’s Premier League side Berry Ladies, Gifty Oware-Mensah is the latest football stakeholder to pour out her admiration for Nora Hauptle’s incredible start to her tenure as Head Coach of the Queens.

The Swiss gaffer is on the verge of qualifying Ghana’s Black Queens to the Women’s AFCON scheduled for Morocco next year after missing out on the last edition.

Gifty Oware-Mensah stated this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports saying:

“I think Nora Häuptle’s tenure has been good. It is the number of the games we’ve played so far and how we have appreciated it. I feel that the fundamentals are right now, and that is what it really is.”

“I always tell people that, whether we like it or not, there would be a loss, there would be a draw, and then there are wins.”

Coach Hauptle

“It is better that we look at the conversation from the perspective of how much we are winning and not look at whose tenure or what tenure it was.”

“It is encouraging that the Black Queens are doing better and will continue to do better.”

“Women’s league is coming of age and the Women’s football is also coming of age.”

Next up for Nora Häuptle and the girls is the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers against Benin in the second round slated for October.

Häuptle was appointed as Head Coach of the Senior Women’s national team – otherwise known as Black Queens back in January after overseeing the Black Princesses as the Technical Advisor for the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

The Princesses failed to qualify out of the group stage under Ben Fokuo’s guidance, conceding 9 goals and scoring just a single goal.

Ghana’s Black Princesses were paired with the United States, Netherlands & Japan in Group D, and they failed to beat any of the 3 countries.

For the Black Queens, Nora Häuptle has brought a new identity to the team and has been tasked to qualify the team for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Namibia, who was the host Nation of the Women’s AFCON in 2014, now stand in Hauptle’s way of qualifying the team for next year’s AFCON in Morocco.
