BetpawaPL WK 3 : Samartex put four past Bechem, Hearts suffer defeat in Sunyani

FC Samartex 1996 returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League after smashing Bechem United at the Nsenkyire Stadium in Samreboi on Sunday.

The Timber Boys claimed their second win of the season after staging a remarkable comeback to thump Bechem 4-1 in the matchday three fixture.

Samartex gaffer Nurudeen Amadu made a couple of changes to the squad that were beaten 2-0 by Nations FC last week with Ebenezer Acquah replacing James Sewornu while Gabriel Bonnah returned to the start list.

Bismark Kobi-Mensah made only one alteration to the squad that pipped Dreams FC in the last round with club legend Augustine Okrah making his first start of the campaign.

Okrah rejoined Bechem after ending his adventure in Tanzania with Simba SC at the end of the 2022-23 season.

Elsewhere at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, Legon Cities picked up their second win of the season against Aduana Stars.

Nicholas Mensah & Samuel Armah got the goals for the Royals. It was the first time Paa Kwesi Fabin faced his former side Aduana Stars after guiding the Ogya Boys to a second-place finish last season.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Great Olympics continued with their unbeaten start to the season, after beating Bibiani Gold Stars by a lone goal.

Michael Osei got the only goal for Daniel Annor Walker’s side.

In Tamale, Heart of Lions shared the spoils with Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Lions are yet to pick up their first win of the season. The results against the Tamale-based side mean it’s 3 draws out of 3 games under Head Coach Fatawu Salifu.

In Sunyani- Ghana Premier League newcomers, Bofoakwa Tano, continued their remarkable start to the season by securing a 1-0 victory against Hearts of Oak at the Sunyani Coronation Park this past Saturday.

Bofoakwa, making their return to the Ghanaian top flight after a 16-year absence, has proven to be a formidable force. They are currently unbeaten in their last three matches.

The clash between this traditional giant from the Bono region and the Phobians drew a massive crowd to the Sunyani Coronation Park, with passionate fans coming out in droves to support Bofoakwa in their third Premier League encounter at home.
