Erik ten Hag has had another injury setback with Casemiro ruled out of Manchester United‘s trip to Sheffield United on Saturday night.

The Brazilian asked to come off in their World Cup qualifier against Venezuela on Saturday before playing 70 minutes in their second game with Uruguay.

But a statement released by the club confirmed the 31-year-old has remained in his homeland for treatment on a ‘small issue’.

But, in a boost to the Dutchman, Sofyan Amrabat did train at Carrington on Thursday, as did left back Sergio Reguilon ahead of the trip to Bramall Lane.

Reguilon, on loan from Tottenham, has missed the last four games with a minor injury, while Amrabat missed Morocco’s games against Liberia and Ivory Coast this month.

Ten Hag can also breathe a sigh of relief with star striker Rasmus Hojlund fit enough to take part in Thursday’s session after he complained about rough treatment from San Marino defenders in midweek.

Hojlund claimed that San Marino’s players deliberately targeted him during Denmark’s Euro 2024 qualifier with them but they have hit back, calling him ‘Mr 80 million’ and saying he was a ‘disappointment’ for complaining about physical contact.
