Crystal Palace manager describes Jeffrey Schlupp goal as “very, very pleasing”

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has described Ghanaian midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp’s goal in Palace’s 2-0 win over Burnley as “a very, very pleasing goal”.

He said this in the post game press conference to Crystal Palace’s media channel after Schlupp’s goal put Palace up 1-0 before Tyrick Mitchell added a second in the second half to seal the win.

Schlupp’s goal is his first of the season and he was assisted by fellow Black Stars player Jordan Ayew who registered his fourth assist of the campaign in the process.

On the goal, Hodgson praised Ayew’s role, first for winning the ball off a Burnley player and proceeding to deliver the pass that setup the goal.

“Jordan (Ayew) chose his time perfectly, won the ball, his cross was good, and Jeffrey Schlupp made up an enormous amount of ground to slide the ball in the goal. That was a very, very pleasing goal…We’ve got to be very happy.”
