[WATCH] : Inaki Williams’ first goal for Ghana in 2026 WCQualifiers

Ghana’s Inaki Williams finally broke his goal drought for the national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Madagascar in the second Group I game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Athletic Bilbao striker had gone 11 games for the Black Stars without scoring and has been heavily criticised for his lack of cutting edge at the FIFA World Cup in QATAR and subsequent games.

Inaki started the game on the right side of the attack but was later moved centrally when Chris Hughton introduced Olympique Lyonnais forward Ernest Nuamah in the 73rd minute.

Inaki carried on with his goal-scoring form this season at club side, Athletic Club having scored 5 goals this season in 13 games, when he finally connected to a cross from Gideon Mensah to give Ghana the first goal in the game’s dying embers.

His solitary strike for the Black Stars means they kickstart their World Cup qualifying campaign with points 3, second in the group behind Comoros who earlier beat Central Africa Republic by four goals to two at the Stade Moroni.
